Recently, six Chinese government departments jointly released the Implementation Rules for the Scrappage and Renewal of Old Commercial Trucks in 2025, marking a new phase in the retirement and replacement of aging commercial vehicles. The new regulations stipulate that from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, medium-duty and heavy-duty commercial trucks meeting National IV and below emission standards will be eligible for unprecedented scrappage and renewal subsidies, with the maximum subsidy reaching 140,000 yuan!

The introduction of these rules aims to accelerate the retirement of high-emission, high-pollution commercial trucks and drive the green transformation of the logistics and transportation industry. Older commercial vehicles not only produce excessive emissions, causing severe environmental pollution, but also pose safety risks, threatening road traffic safety. The implementation of the new regulations will effectively promote the adoption of eco-friendly, energy-efficient vehicles and enhance road safety standards.

Under the policy, subsidies will directly benefit eligible commercial truck owners. Owners who scrap old vehicles and purchase new environmentally compliant ones can apply for subsidies, providing significant financial incentives to reduce the cost of upgrading and expedite the phase-out of outdated vehicles.

To ensure smooth execution, the regulations clarify the responsibilities and tasks of transportation authorities at all levels. Relevant departments will strengthen oversight and guidance to guarantee policy compliance. Additionally, efforts will be intensified to crack down on illegal operations, overage vehicles, and other violations to maintain fair market order.

The 2025 scrappage policy represents a critical step in China’s push for green transportation and sustainable development. It will not only improve environmental quality and public health but also drive the logistics industry’s modernization, boosting overall competitiveness. With concerted efforts from governments and stakeholders, China’s transportation sector is poised for a brighter, cleaner future.
